MEC Lehari End a Blissful 100 Days at the Helm of Community Safety and Transport Management - The Progress and Commitments are Pleasing

Recently Honourable Jonas Sello Lehari marked his big 100 days in office since his appointment as MEC for the department of Community Safety and Transport Management in the North West Province. This deployment was received with open arms and hailed as both befitting and worthy.

"The100 Days report is a necessary impact assessment tool to measure the speed with which we, as a department, have responded to the Presidential clarion call of Khawuleza. Accountability remains a key strategic requirement for every leader and manager in the public service. Accepting the call to serve comes with some form of responsibility and at the centre of that responsibility is Good Governance which advocate for accountability and transparency". Said MEC Lehari.

"I have indicated when signing the Annual Performance Plan of the Department that my tenure in the department will be intense and impactful and that my approach will be underpinned by Working Sessions and “Re Bona Ka Matlho Programs.”We made a promise that while dealing the triple challenges of Inequality, Unemployment and poverty, the fourth demon of greed, fraud and corruption will be taken head-on". Continued MEC.

MEC’s three-pronged approach to the execution of his mandate began in earnest with his “One-on-One Sessions, Re Bona Ka Matlho and MEC Led Operations” kick starting almost immediately. His wish to make a meaningful and impactful changes to the lives of the ordinary communities was taking shape albeit the challenges and hiccups experienced.

MEC Lehari’s ambitious yet achievable legacy plans for 2019/20 are; the completion of Lichtenburg Weighbridge, renovation and construction of both Itsoseng and Mogwase Driving Licensing and Testing Centre (DLTC's). And, of course the long outstanding renovations of the GD Montshioa, formerly Mafikeng, and Pilanesberg Airport. These infrastructure expenditure programs feature strongly in the 2019/20 financial year. Hence constant monitoring and strides to implement these are at an advanced stage

"The youth will be empowered still, employment will be created still, women, children and the vulnerable groups will still be provided safety and security. The promulgated 24/7 shift and visibility of law enforcement will be monitored closely. Our workforce will work around the clock to ensure communities are served. Vehicle crashes will be mitigated. Service providers will be paid in time. Greed, fraud and corruption will be eradicated". Concluded MEC Lehari.

All the infrastructure expenditure projects that MEC inspected to mark the end of his 100 days in office look promising, the pace to deliver them in time is worrisome but satisfactory. The manpower, the staff morale in general and the commitment to deliver services particularly, is quite pleasing, to say the least.
